The inaugural running of the Petit Machismo at CalSpeed is a must win for every driver competing. To engrave your name in the history books as the very first winner of any event is massive, especially when you know it is the first of many. The 8 hour long contest is a quick turnaround for the team after last weekends Grand Prix where the team must switch from the sprint mindset of making every single corner and pass count into the endurance mindset where you settle into a groove and run your own race.

Out of a possible 6 podium positions, SPV Racing secured 5 of them! It could have even been 6 for 6 if the team had entered more than 2 drivers into the Ironman portion of the event.

The event started strong in qualifying with Patrick Britain taking a solid 2nd place, putting him on pole for his first heat. Right behind him however was the rest of the team, each qualifying inside the top 10! In the heat races it was even more dominance as Logan Calvin won both of his heats, Miles Calvin won one of his, Britain won another and each driver never finished outside of the top 3.

Heading into the mains things were looking strong for SPV and they did not dissapoint. After an incredible four way battle between, Britain, Miles Calvin, Jon Kimbrell and Mike Kai. The results saw Kimbrell take yet another Grand Prix win with Britain and Calvin right behind, sweeping the top 3 spots.

In the second event of the day, it appeared as though Kimbrell was set to hoist the flag for SPV on his own, until Logan Calvin and Britain joined in on the event at the last second. After an hour of incredible racing that saw the top 4 all have a shot at victory it would be the team of Britain / Calvin taking the win with an unprecedented strategy of creating a tandem duo to remain fresh at the finish. Kimbrell brought it home right behind with Sergio Bravo in 3rd.

The journey that united us “piloti” began in 2005 at the popular old indoor kart facility Dromo1 in the City of Orange.  It was destiny calling: we always raged in epic battles at the top echelon of talent in Dromo1’s Grand Prix series, and thus we regularly would meet at the top of the podium steps.

First came Jon Kimbrell and Aaron Downs, half brothers from a dirt track racing family, entered the arena with a undying commitment towards honing their speed.  Since 2005 the brothers have accumulated a room full of trophies and notably Kimbrell has two back to back national titles.    Then came veteran production car racer Morales, who had success early on in his career racing outdoor karts in Brazil and was getting a second life at karting with triple back to back 12 hour endurance wins under his belt.  Britain burst on to the karting scene after a few Jr. seasons in SoCal’s speed truck racing series. Britain braved the Indoor Kart World Championship in his rookie year and eventually engraved his name on the Dromo1 Cup in 2010.  Next came the speedwaybike racing Calvin brothers, Miles and Logan. They were the last to join the Dromo elite racer family and set the bar very high from their record setting debut race thru their commanding performance in the 2010 World Championship; notably Logan secured the coveted Jr. World title.  Friendships were born out of camaraderie and one common bond: always meeting up at the podium at the end of the night.

In 2010, in their debut event as a team was none other than the 3^rd edition of the Le Mans 12 Hours at Dromo1 race.   They performed flawlessly with an inspirational win over the toughest competition that the fabled event had ever seen.  The name Scuderia Piloti Veloce (SPV)* Racing Team was born a few days prior to the 12 hour race and held meaning to them in that it was charming in its simplicity, effective and held prestige.  The preparation for the 12 hour that year was a test of their ability to work congruently, to put aside all individual claims to fame, and to not let egos get in the way of their ultimate goal.

• Scuderia Piloti Veloce is roughly translated in English to mean racing team of fast racers.

The team is now in its 2^nd year and so far has an impressive set of individual and team accomplishments.  These results give meaning and depth to their desire to conquer any team competition anywhere in the world.  Team SPV Racing has launched an eye catching web portal that serves as their primary tool for communication, news, marketing and promotions.

For 2011, the team has purchased all new high performance race gear for a cohesive and fresh look.
